About When In San Diego

San Diego County is a sprawling, bustling meshwork of natural beauty and urban living with dozens of unique neighborhoods and small towns scattered across a hilly landscape, buffeted by mountains, desert, and ocean. To the south sits Mexico. To the north, the open expanse of broader SoCal. There is a towering downtown, a coast full of beach bars, and a park the size of a small city. There is delicious food, incredible wildlife, and artistic and cultural events year round. With so much going on (and with over three million people calling this place home) it can be difficult to wrap your head around this place, much less decide what to do with your time here. That is where we want to help.

We offer a broad array of activity and itinerary suggestions for any and every occasion, whether you are a local planning a last minute date night, an out of towner trying to find a good breakfast sandwich, or you’re just bored with a day off and want to explore the city.

When In San Diego is a local site, run by locals, and we spotlight mostly local attractions and businesses. That being said, we can also point you to the best Jack In The Box if it fits your needs (also, technically, a local business). We offer context about our recommendations so everyone might get to know San Diego a bit better. And in the end, if you really don’t want to do any thinking, we offer curated itineraries so you can turn off your brain and leave the planning to us.
