About Pop Pie
If your city does not have a good pie shop, we feel for you. But not as much joy as we feel after eating at Pop Pie.
Pop Pie serves hand-held savory and sweet pies with an all-butter crust, along with sausage rolls, cookies, guava cream cheese pastries (my personal favorite), homemade pop tarts, and a full cafe for hot and tasty beverages. If you prefer to drink beer with your pie, they serve that too.
It’s what you want out of a pie shop: small, on the corner, quick and friendly service, and the smell of warm flaky golden pies wafting through the air in the early morning hours. If you’re not often in the neighborhood, they have an entire freezer of frozen pies to bring home and enjoy for another time.

A Closer Look
Owned by business partners and loving couple Gan Suebsarakham and Steven Torres, they have brought joy to San Diego in the form of pies, ice cream, and coffee. If you know Pop Pie, then you most likely know their sister company Stella Jeans Ice Cream, which is another place you do not want to skip. Steven grew up in Calexico, CA and Gan grew up in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
After meeting in San Diego and beginning and life-long courtship surrounded by delicious treats, they decided to bring their appreciation for community and the culinary arts to the rest of San Diego through what is now called the Sweet and Savory Collection. Keeping it close to the neighborhood, they make an effort to source local ingredients, flavors, inspirations, and they offer coffee from a rotating list of coffee roasters to help showcase other local businesses in San Diego.
The story of Pop Pie is one we need, where love, food, and community came together in a mixing bowl to create an amazing place for all San Diegan’s to enjoy. Not in University Heights? Don’t fret, they have multiple locations all over SoCal.
