About Parkhouse Eatery
Tucked into the cozy streets of San Diego’s University Heights neighborhood, Parkhouse Eatery has become a staple brunch and dinner spot for locals. Known for their homestyle comfort food (and also their literal home style – the restaurant is inside an old home), at Parkhouse you feel like you’re visiting grandma for a family meal. It is a great neighborhood spot to gather with loved ones over delicious food.
They serve a very popular brunch (always a line to get in), but dinner here is our favorite. Think crab cakes, mussels in a garlic white wine sauce, polenta and meatballs, and pork chop served inside a cozy, dimly-lit wood dining room. The meatloaf is the best we’ve had in San Diego – drenched in a tangy and savory sun-dried tomato gravy and served with mascarpone mashed potatoes and fried broccoli – just like our grandma never made. You can also sit outside on the garden patio under the glowing neighborhood sign and enjoy the people watching on leafy, tree-lined Park Boulevard. The quaintness will be nearly overwhelming.
If you are in a pinch for holiday plans, Parkhouse is open for Christmas Eve brunch.

A Closer Look
Currently owned by Tony Loiacono, the Parkhouse Eatery originally opened in 1996 and has been serving the community continuously for nearly 30 years, a testament to its quality. The house itself was built in 1931 and before it was a restaurant it held the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store.
