About Pacific Beach Boardwalk
Running along the sand parallel to the ocean in Mission Beach and Pacific Beach is a three mile long boardwalk, technically called Oceanfront Boardwalk, but really you can just call it The Boardwalk and people should know what you’re talking about. This is a great place to go for a stroll, or a bike ride, or a roller blade, or a skateboard, or ride your unicycle, or your hoverboard, or your tandem bicycle with a clown horn on the front. The strip is straight and narrow and flat and always has a lot of eclectic human activity happening along it.
The boardwalk runs from South Mission Beach Park in the south to Palisades Park in the north. If you want to walk six miles you can, but we’d recommend just finding a place to park along the path and walking a mile north or south to explore. There are a couple strips of bars and restaurants along the way, one in Pacific Beach from Feldspar Ave to Pacific Beach Drive, and one in Mission Beach just opposite Belmont Park. Make one of these spots a destination to stop for lunch or a beer before walking back to your starting place.
Palisades Park is a beautiful spot to sit and watch the surfers at Tourmaline or catch a sunset. The area around Crystal Pier is a great place to inhale second hand marijuana smoke.
There are lots and lots and lots of places to rent bikes, skateboards, and rollerskates in Mission Beach and Pacific Beach if you don’t want to bring your own.

A Closer Look
The Oceanfront Boardwalk is as old as Mission Beach itself – designed in 1914 and built in the early 1920s along with the rest of the neighborhood. Belmont Park and The Plunge were built in at the same time too. Public amenities for a public beach.
