About Garage 79
East of San Diego, between the desert and the Palomar mountains, is one of the coolest bars outside San Diego, called Garage 79. An oasis on the road full of cold, crispy beers and refreshing drinks.
A welcome sight on the road, Garage 79 is an old auto shop and gas station converted into a craft bar, and is one of the best out-of-town bars for San Diegans. for thirsty patrons in Warner Springs, CA. Small and simple, this place serves craft beer on draft or in cans, wines, hard kombuchas, and other cold beverages to wash the dust down your gullet. There is no kitchen, but guest food trucks and vendors are often there to accompany the drinks. On certain nights, they’ll round out the experience with live music.
With both indoor and outdoor seating, they really own the old-school automotive theme with classic cars parked out front, an old telephone booth, and the original gas pumps (neither beer nor gas flows out of them). For bars that try to emulate a classic feel, Garage 79 nails it with the original rusty nails. Only open on weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), this is the perfect place to end a nice hike on a hot day.

A Closer Look
We know Garage 79 for serving delicious beers and being a great place to stop between adventures, but their history is a bit unexplored for us. Omar would be the logical place to start, one of the friendly owners and bar tenders. If you’d like to take a closer look, we recommend making a trip out there.
