About City Farmers Nursery
City Farmers Nursery is by far the best plant nursery in San Diego. It is a sprawling plant nursery and gardening store in the heart of the city of San Diego, in the neighborhood City Heights, that feels more like a walk through a biodiverse paradise, mixed with a farm, mixed with a petting zoo. They have every species of plant you can think of – from fruit trees to succulents, native pollinators to fancy imported indoor plants. The staff at City Farmers are incredibly knowledgeable and eager to help, whether you have the most basic gardening question or are looking to take your already advanced garden to the next level.
The space is also just a nice place to visit – on a date, with the kids, alone in a ponderous mood – even if you are not shopping. There are many little critters hiding around every corner at City Farmers, including goats, donkeys, turtles, rabbits, and roosters. Just know the donkeys will bite your child’s finger off so just keep those little flesh carrots out of their cage.

Once you are done plant shopping, grab a bite to eat next door. Attached to City Farmers is Nate’s Garden Grill, a bar and restaurant that features food sourced from local farmers and live music almost daily.
